Whatever you’re facing, a Samaritan will face it with you
Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help.
Samaritans are working with people who are going through a difficult time. We’re here, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.
Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide.
That’s why we work tirelessly to reach more people and make suicide prevention a priority.
In 2021, Exeter, Mid and East Devon Samaritans responded to31,417 contacts - 27,787 were telephone calls, 2,689 emails and 941 webchat contacts.
We have over 120 volunteers in our branch; in addition to responding to callers, we conduct outreach work across our area, such as offering wellbeing talks to school students and holding fundraising collections at supermarkets. We have just resumed working with Listeners in Exeter Prison.
We also have a shop and art gallery in Sidmouth and feel very much part of the community here in East Devon.
